Until...seeing so many of Robin's great garments made from NL patterns (chip, chip, chip--the breaking down process had begun), then the whammo of Cennetta's version of this dress last week. That just did it. On my last trip to Walmart, I snagged the last envelope of NL 6749 pictured below:
What???? This can't be the same pattern as Cennetta's dress! Hers is much more beautiful than the pattern cover. I would have passed this over big time if I did not see her version. However, her lovely dress broke me down. And now I've added an NL pattern to my stash--first time in about 4 years.
So we'll see what happens. I really like that View D. However, the end of summer is quickly approaching and I don't know if I'll get to it. It would make a nice holiday party dress though.
But yeah, they both broke me down. I got the pattern--the only one added to my stash since March. Sure hope my eventual version will turn out as lovely as Cennetta's.
No sewing for today. Just nice sewing thoughts while doing housework.

I'm sure it will be beautiful! That's funny--I've just bought two NL patterns, and I don't usually even look at them. Not because of any pattern issues, I just find their books to be confusing.

I also purchased this pattern a month or two ago after seeing some cute versions at PR. I think I remember some fitting issues with the bodice, however, so you might want to review PR before starting or create a muslin first. (At least that's the notes I wrote on the envelope after I purchased it!)
Cennetta's version is beautiful. Of course, she looks awesome in everything, doesn't she?!!
I just looked at this same pattern last night, as I was searching for possible LBD dress patterns. Good luck with this!
I think New Look patterns are for a strong shouldered/muscular backed individual without a lot of boobage (check, that would be me.) On NL woven top patterns, I always use my full bust measurement to pick a pattern size with great success and zero alterations. I would guess that on these you may want to try starting with using a pattern that = your high bust measurement, as it looks like your shoulders/back are smaller in proportion to your bust than mine are.
One more thing, NL patterns also seem to have a higher bust draft than others I've tried. This works for me as I'm lucky enough to be perky in that spot, but I've heard others complain about the position of the bust darts.
Kat, You are so funny. This is a great little dress pattern and is not hard to fit at all. Last weekend I had another view, I think D. It didn't take long. So I think you'll love the results.
