I know I am...OMG, thank you, thank you, thank you!! I know I am responding to a really OLD post but this is EXACTLY the information I have needed and YOU are the only place I have found it. I do hope you see this.

I have a great fitting sloper (after a zillion tries) as I have VERY similar issues to you. One side different shape to the other, VERY curvy armholes, shoulder slopes, large darts, etc. Also different size and shaped breasts due to a mastectomy and reconstruction 12 years ago. Up until now, despite trying everything I could think of, the changes I had to make to a commercial pattern to make it anywhere near a fit was just almost impossible to keep track off. I have just been sticking to basic boring drafting changes to the sloper.

BUT, l just went and did what you suggest - put a DART into the armhole of commercial pattern and then pivoted it into my bust dart. Now THE ARMSCYE AND DARTS ALMOST MATCH THE SHAPE OF SLOPER!!! I do still need to do slope and narrow shoulder adj and shorten both length and width between bust and shoulder, but I now have a workable sequence I will be able to apply to all those commercial patterns I have not been able to use.

I am so thrilled and grateful.............and glad I persevered with trying to find the answer. Again THANK YOUjanfoxdesignshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04464102605902292926noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-225541309421891346.post-16520694169752671382013-03-15T09:26:36.881-04:002013-03-15T09:26:36.881-04:00You have no idea how helpful this post is for me. ...You have no idea how helpful this post is for me. I have been planning to make myself a sloper to help with making my own cloths, both to aid in pattern design and to form the basis to make myself a custom form. I am 5 feet tall, 130lbs and wear a 34DDD bra - RTW is hit and miss, and buying patterns at the store doesn't seem to be much better for me. I was researching on how to draft a sloper, but the saran idea is much more effective. I love all the photos you posted, your description of your process - and your lessons learned. Very appreciated - thank you! ~Lisa MarieLisa Marie MacDonaldhttp://www.creativelment.wordpress.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-225541309421891346.post-57596446063762036842009-03-17T15:46:00.000-04:002009-03-17T15:46:00.000-04:00I know I am so late to the party on this, but I re...I know I am so late to the party on this, but I really, really enjoyed your post. This makes so much sense to me as well. I also need a minimum of ease and more shaping, and I agree on people understanding their own body type better than anything else, and to "consider the source" (not in a snotty way) when getting advice.Robinhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11133547765222326544noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-225541309421891346.post-29734439375905826572009-03-09T18:18:00.000-04:002009-03-09T18:18:00.000-04:00This was so helpful and well thought out!! I'd add and a similar attitude toward fit and quality.

You might want to check out Lynda Maynard's book DeMystifying Fit. You can purchase it on Kennth D. King's website on the books page, right hand column, part way down. It'll work with the saran block (which I need to check out. NEVER heard of that). Her book made ALL the difference to my sewing. That and working with a professional seamstress to get my measurements correct.

Thanks for sharing
- Myrna

http://www.creativeconversation.blogspot.comMyrnahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08322129605868685006noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-225541309421891346.post-67252243568477127632009-03-07T02:20:00.000-05:002009-03-07T02:20:00.000-05:00This is very informative Kat!
